Programs for All Needs

Embrace Individuality!

We offer programs that accommodate all needs.  Here are some examples of how we promote an inclusive community.

Fitness and Beyond

Camp Jacobson at Robin Hood is proud to offer Fitness and Beyond, a unique program for children with Type 1 diabetes. This program allows children with diabetes the opportunity to participate in a traditional camp experience, including sports, swimming and creative arts, while being supervised by a medical team with many years experience working with children with diabetes. From carb counting to injections and pump support, our Fitness and Beyond program offers parents the comfort of knowing their kids are cared for in a safe, nurturing environment.

Fitness and Beyond is partially funded by the Lions Club of Nassau County and Bermuda and the Sheldon A. Sinnett BASICS Fund.

Allergies

Camp Jacobson caters to most food allergies and is a peanut-free campus. We realize that raising a child with serious allergies can be a challenge and we support your efforts. We do not serve any food products containing peanuts anywhere at camp and require all food brought in from the outside to abide by the same standards.  The food we serve on camp is Kosher and we offer gluten-free alternatives for every meal.  Have unique concerns?  We are happy to work with you to prepare meal plans that suit your needs.

Special Needs Inclusion Program

We believe that all children benefit from a diverse community. Our inclusion program for children with special needs allows our campers with Asperger’s Syndrome and Autism to participate in activities alongside our typically developing campers. With the help of a “shadow” dedicated exclusively to your child with special needs, Camp Jacobson offers all children the opportunity to experience new and interesting things every day.
